Frequently asked questions
What kind of files can PlumPad open?
PlumPad works with plain-text and rich-text documents, including TXT, RTF, and RTFD files. It can also open common source-code and Markdown files as editable text.
Where are my documents stored?
You choose where every document is saved. Files stay on your Mac or in a folder managed by a storage service you already use. PlumPad does not upload documents to its own servers.
Why does pasted text lose its original formatting?
PlumPad pastes clean text by default, excluding source fonts, colors, and layout. You can apply formatting after pasting.
Can I add images to a document?
Yes. Paste or drop images into rich-text documents and resize them in place.
What is Lightweight Code Mode?
It provides syntax highlighting, line numbers, indent guides, pattern search, and go-to-line for source code and structured text.
How can I move a document into another app?
Use File → Export to create plain text, Markdown, Word, CSV, or PDF. You can also print from the standard Mac print window.
Does PlumPad collect my writing or usage?
No. PlumPad does not collect document contents or usage analytics. Read the privacy policy for the complete details.
Which Macs are supported?
PlumPad supports macOS 13 Ventura and later.
